Stiffness in the neck is very common especially in people who sit all day on the computer, and it may be a consequence of everyday stress in the workplace or at the home.

There are two very effective acupressure points for the reduction and prevention of neck pain and headaches caused by it. Also, in order to provide greater efficiency in workouts, press the following acupressure points before doing any neck exercises.

Point 1

It is located on both sides of the spine, on the outside of the neck muscles, in the hollow underside of the skull.

Place your hands on your head. Using your thumbs to press these points one by one. Press in the direction of the eyes, as hard as to make it pleasant, not painful.

Press the right side 12 times. Each time you press hold for 3 seconds and then release 1 second. Or count: press… 123 … release 123 … press… etc. until 12. Repeat the same on the left side.

Press this point 2-3 times a day when you have a stiff neck or neck pain.

It helps to:

  • Relieve pain and stiffness in the neck;
  • Relief from headaches behind and aside of the head.

Point 2

Note: It should not be pressed during pregnancy (especially in the last quarter) because it can cause contractions of the uterus.

Located in the muscles of the tops of the shoulders, midway between the spine and the outer edges of the shoulders.

Locate the point with the index and the middle finger of the left hand and press the point on the right shoulder 12 times. Press as hard to make it pleasant, not painful.

As with point 1, press 3 seconds, then release 1 second. Repeat on left shoulder.

Press this point 2-3 times a day when you have a stiff neck or neck pain.

Relieve pain and stiffness in the neck and shoulders.
